剧集介绍：
1919年，顾海棠和姐姐因父母双亡而被卖进了青楼，几年后，姐姐被迫害致死，顾海棠带着侄女菱子逃往上海。顾海棠刚到上海，菱子便被人拐走，巡捕黄龙帮她找回，自此便对她展开追求。工人运动时，顾海棠遇到初恋、革命党人于立凡，为其铤而走险运输枪支被捕，在狱中受尽折磨，出狱后被赶出法租界。离开法租界的顾海棠历尽艰辛成为小有名气的企业家，于立凡为了掩护身份与表妹结婚。于立凡因刺杀国民党要员受到通缉，海棠冒死将其送出上海使他得已逃脱。抗战期间，顾海棠与于立凡、黄龙假借商人身份为共产党运送物资及情报，黄龙在一次运送物资途中为了掩护于立凡而牺牲。抗战胜利后于立凡被国民党屠杀，顾海棠因反对内战被国民党入狱，后在我党的救援下出狱，为党默默地工作。改革开放后，黄龙被追认为抗日烈士。
